Elements and Performance Criteria

1. Mark out pattern
   • Determine contraction allowance by performing calculations
   • Mark out pattern/pattern components to specifications
2. Manufacture pattern
   • Join and secure pattern components in an appropriate manner using adhesives appropriate to the task
   • Select appropriate tools and techniques to manufacture polystyrene patterns to specification
   • Check pattern for conformance to specifications and mark for identification
3. Determine job requirements
   • Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs)
4. Comply with work health and safety (WHS) requirements at all times
5. Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) in accordance with SOPs
6. Identify job requirements from specifications, drawings, job sheets or work instructions
7. Select the appropriate grade and type of polystyrene to meet specifications
   • Determine contraction allowance by performing calculations
8. Mark out pattern/pattern components to specifications
   • Join and secure pattern components in an appropriate manner using adhesives appropriate to the task
9. Select appropriate tools and techniques to manufacture polystyrene patterns to specification

11. Protect pattern from damage
    • Handle and store patterns in a safe manner least likely to cause damage using appropriate procedures
